Marek Spitczok von Brisinski
was born in 1967 in Berlin, grew up in South Africa and Canada
and returned to Berlin in 1991. He studied Sociology of Development,
African Studies and Psychology and has researched and lectured
on theatre and development in Africa at the Humboldt and Free
Universities in Berlin. Currently PhD candidate at the University
of Bayreuth with a thesis on Community Theatre as a medium for
education and reconciliation in South Africa. He received training
in the methods of the Theatre of the Oppressed from, among others,
Michael Wrentschur (InterACT, Austria) and Augusto Boal (Centre
for the Theatre of the Oppressed, Brazil) and has facilitated
workshops for children and youth using theatre as a medium for
communication and conflict transformation in South Africa and
Germany.
